FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Trademark Acknowledgement Can I commence a course immediately ? Students can complete all courses by correspondence at home, either in Australia or overseas, and will have no trouble doing this as the courses are easy to work through. How long will the MYOB courses take to complete ? Students have up to 20 weeks to complete the MYOB correspondence course workbooks and assignments. Feedback and Assessment timeframe are in addition to the 20 weeks. Extra time may be granted to complete if required. How much are the course fees ? What materials are included within the course package ? What do the college students say about the courses ? Are there any prerequisites required to commence the MYOB correspondence courses ? If the assessor, after assessing your assignment, considers you have not understood a particular concept then you may be asked to do some more work in that particular area but you will be assisted until you attain that competency. All staff recognise the rights of students and provide information, advice and support that is consistent with our Core Business Values and this Code of Practice. Regardless of cultural background, gender, sexuality, disability or age you have the right to study in an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment and be treated in a fair and considerate manner while you are studying with us. If, at any time, you feel that we are not abiding by our Code of Practice then report your complaints or grievance to a supervisor/trainer or equity officer, or complete our complaints and grievance form. Access & Equity - Disability Should a student have a disability in some way then the college will assist the student in undertaking a correspondence course. In the event that the college cannot fulfill the needs of the student then it will offer to provide assistance by contacting support services that may be able to assist. Prior to the course the CEO will determine the best approach to train the disabled student and to include the student within the group training. Student selection is derived from the outcomes of our learning & assessment strategies. We conduct induction and orientation sessions for staff at our premises and for students at our phone interview. All students can complete our courses by correspondence as the courses are designed for beginners. It is a requirement of enrolment that a student actively participates in the MYOB correspondence courses which are used as a resource tool to attain competency units. As a minimum requirement the student must complete the MYOB Basics assignment and forward it to the college for assessment within the course completion timeframe as this is the evidence used to satisfy the minumum requirement. After the minimum requirement has been met then two additional MYOB correspondence courses (intermediate and advanced) are required to be completed successfully for the issuing of statements of attainment.

We provide provisions for language, literacy and numeracy assessment on request. We also monitor the needs of our client's language, literacy and numeracy skills through our enrolment form survey and phone discussions. All students can attend the college courses or undertake the correspondence courses as no previous gained computer language, literacy, numeracy skills are necessary and no pre-requisites exist for the course. At the time of booking a course a student should advise if they have a problem in relation to: - Understanding English - Reading / Writing - Basic Mathematical Calculations The college will assist that the college cannot solve the specific problem then the college will assist the student by contacting support organisations that mat be able to assist.
Most of our clients are in-house students and therefore very little external support is required. However the support we offer includes: (i) recognised prior learning ; (ii) options in learning ; (iii) guidance via our Equity Officer ; (iv) one on one tutoring where required at the course ; (v) pre-course interviews ; (vi) training needs analysis ; (vii) reference manuals ; (viii) information on our web-site We provide and support the following services within our Code of Practice.
Students can have access to their personal records by contacting the college by phone or in writing, but must at all times, be able to provide proof of identity before any information will be released. Students must provide in writing authorisation for the college to issue any information to a third party if requested. The college has a responsibilty to the student only and reserves the right to not issue student records to a third party if it so chooses.
Flexible learning and assessment procedures are documented within our assessment kit and form part of our learning and assessment strategies. The college provides flexible alternatives by offering correspondence courses with email support. Free email support is available to all students during any of our courses. Assessment procedures to ensure competency are based on assignments completed by the student and submitted to the college. All students are advised of the assessment criteria at the beginning of a course. We provide and support the following services within our Code of Practice: We will endeavour to provide welfare and guidance to all students. This includes (i) occupational health and safety; (ii) review of payment schedules when requested (iii) learning pathways and possible RPL & RCC opportunities; (iv) provision for special learning needs; (v) provision for special cultural and religious needs; and (vi) provision for special dietary needs. An equity officer of the college has been appointed to deal specifically with welfare and guidance services. Should a student have a problem in this area then the college would be happy to assist as much as it can or refer the student to a support group that can assist. Complaints & Appeals Procedure In the event of a complaint the student should write, by email or letter, directly to the chief executive officer. A student making a complaint must do so in writing within 7 days of the complaint issue arising. The college will respond in a prompt manner and within 7 days of receiving the complaint in writing. Within the complaint the student must detail the action that he/she considers is required by the college to satisfy the complaint. The college will do everything it can, within its control, to resolve the complaint. All complaints are dealt with directly by the Chief Executive Officer of the college.
Should the complaint not be able to be resolved then the college will advise the student of any external assistance that may be available to the student such as the Office of Fair Trading or lodging the complaint details with the registering authority. However, any complaint made to the college is dealt with efficiently and fairly and the college management will attempt to resolve any complaint received. Disciplinary Procedure The college Chief Executive Officer will determine if disciplinary action is required in relation to a student or staff member after thoroughly investigating a complaint. Any disciplinary action is subject to an appeal if the student or staff member appeals the action. Under no circumstances will the college accept rude or unprofessional emails either issued by staff or received from students. Assessment Appeals Process The Chief Executive Officer will oversee any Appeals process and will make sure an independent person or body deals with the appeal. A student appealing an assessment must do so in writing within 30 days by lodging a letter with the college setting out his/her reasons for the appeals application. The college will respond within 14 days of the outcome of the appeal. Reasons for the decision made in relation to the appeal will also be provided to the student. Should the appeal end up being unresolved then the college will advise the student of any external assistance that may be available to assist the student such as the Department of Fair Trading or another relevant government department. At the Accounting College, we have appointed our Administration Manager as student Equity Officer, the complete responsibilities are listed within the Administration Manger's Duty Statement. The position’s main objective is to ensure all staff act in accordance with our Code of Practice and all students are made aware of their rights and responsibilities. The college is very much aware of its responsibilities in relation to Access and Equity issues. Our courses are designed for both men and women. - We conduct our courses with full awareness that people from different cultures may attend. - We encourage students of any age or race to partake in the course. The wealth of experience in our group activities certainly assists within these activities. - The college will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harrasment of students and ensures that all students conduct their studies in an enjoyable atmosphere.
RPL is offered to all applicants on enrolment. All students should read and understand the following prior to seeking an exemption for Recognised Prior Learning. The process within the college is structured to minimise time and cost to applicants. The applicant will be queried at the time of applying for RPL and advised that only MYOB basics training is permitted to be claimed as an exemption. Intermediate and Advanced levels must be undertaken unless the college considers, after review, that the applicant has the credentials in either qualifications and/or experience to satisfy a further exemption. Applicants will be permitted to participate in the Intermediate course if they lodge correct documentation and once reviewed shows they have the relevant experience and knowledge. Applicants will also have to provide competent answers and use the MYOB software during a phone interview describing steps required on random questions asked by the assessor. At the phone interview stage, prior to enrolment, they will be informed that they will encounter problems with the intermediate and advanced levels if they have or do not have an understanding of MYOB Basics training. A check will be made during the Intermediate course in relation to the exemption of the Basics course to ensure that basics activities are being performed correctly. Should a student have claimed an exemption on basics training and found not to have such skills then that student will be requested to undertake and pay for the basics course and will not be permitted to continue in the program until that basics training has been completed. Mutual Recognition Policy The Accounting College recognises Qualifications and Statements of Attainments that are issued by other Registered Training Organisations where they are relevant to the course the student is about to undertake. The college recognises that prior learning can be gained through a person undertaking training, on the job Liability Limitation The principal / director of the college is a member of the National Institute of Accountants.
